1st GastroVino: Baja Food and Wine Festival

The Gastro Vino in Todos Santos is a festival that has been brought together by the pueblo’s own Bodega de Todos Santos, and was organized to celebrate the typical food and wine of the Baja California region. Several wineries from Northern Baja will offer tastings and wine for purchase, while many of the top chefs from the Todos Santos region will tease your palates with their local delicacies. Bands will alternate on the stage throughout the day and a silent auction will benefit local charities. A general admission ticket will include a wine glass for 2oz tastings as well as food samples. More wine and more food can be purchased.

The 1st GastroVino takes place May 20th, 2012 in the Main Plaza Publica (by the church) from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Two Wine Makers’ Dinners will be held at 7pm on May 19th.


General Admission for Sunday, May 20th.  A wristband that will allow access to the Festival and the tasting will cost $250 pesos at the event. General Admission tickets can be purchased at a discounted price of $18 in advance by registering below and making and paying online below.

Winemaker’s Dinner Saturday, May 19th (w/ option for VIP Admission May 20th)On Saturday night, there will be two “Winemaker’s Dinners”  starting 7pm. Tickets for the Winemaker’s Dinners are available only here on a first-come, first-served basis. The VIP option includes a T-Shirt from the GastroVino,  a VIP wristband which includes access to the Winemaker’s tent and the Winemakers’ Dinner of your choice.  The Winemaker’s Dinner for Tre Galline can be purchased independently for $50 in advance by registering below and making and paying online below. VIP GastroVino Tickets, including the Winemaker’s dinner, can be purchased for $100 in advance by registering below and making and paying online below.

There are two choices of venues for the Winemakers’ dinners.

1. Ron Raul de Vinart  and Tre Galline

APPETIZERS: (i) Capponcini stuffed with herbs, parmesan cheese, bacon, and extra virgin olive oil, (ii) Strudel pastry, with mushrooms, and (iii) Skewer shrimp grilled with garlic and parsley sauce

PAIRING: Voignier
FIRST COURSE: Maccheroncini with quail meat sauce
PAIRING: Cielo, Mar y Tierrra
MAIN COURSE: Veal rolls stuffed with fresh herbs and courgettes, Marsala and cream sauce
PAIRING: Temple (Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah)
DESSERT:  Mango Ice cream with  sweet basil sauce

2. Baron Balche and SantoVino at Hotel California – THIS DINNER IS SOLD OUT
APPETIZERS: (i) Freshly shucked Baja oysters on the half shell, (ii) Stuffed mini chile with crab and 3 cheeses, fresh pineapple salsa, (iii) Jumbo shrimp with tamarind glaze, (iv) Scallop and shrimp cakes with chipotle-tequila mayo, and (v) Yellow tail sashimi, Baja extra virgin olive oil, lime juice.

PAIRING: Spiral 2010- Sauvignon Blanc


  • Organic greens drizzled with Baja olive oil, dried cranberries, hearts of palm, cherry tomatoes, agave glazed pecans.
  • Stuffed baked Portobello, goat cheese, chorizo and pine nuts.
  • Grilled asparragus with prosciutto.

PAIRING: Siis 2010 – Tempranillo, Grenache, Carignan

MAIN COURSE: A combination plate of meat and fish. Yellow tail, mango, ginger butter sauce. Basil rice. Roasted seasonal vegetables.

PAIRING: Mezcla de Tintos 2009 – Malbec, Carignan, Grenache, Cabernet Franc

MAIN COURSE: Marinated flank steak (arrachera), red onions, bacon, red wine reduction and Chihuahua cheese.  Scalloped sweet potatoes.

PAIRING: TC 2008 Tempranillo Cabernet Sauvignon

DESSERT PLATTER:  Chocolate truffle cake. Flan with mango sauce. Pear, star anise and ginger tarte tatin. Local strawberries.

PAIRING: Dulche – Grenache 2010

ESPANOLEl 1er Festival anual GastroVino es dedicado a celebrar la gastronomía y vinos de Baja California.  Pensado para los amantes de cocina local y vino local de calidad, es un tiempo para conocer a los chefs y sus creaciones del área de Todos Santos y tambien conocer los viticultores y sus vinos del Norte de Baja.

Contamos con la presencia de Las Bodegas de Santo Tomas, L.A. Cetto, Baron Balch’é, MD, Viñedos Sierra Laguna, Vinart y algunos mas.

Por 250 pesos, cada asistente recibirá un brazalete y una copa emblemática de cortesía para degustar cada vino y una muestra de cada restaurante. Todos los expositores tambien venderan por copa, por botella y por plato a precios muy especiales.

Habrá musica en vivo,  con 3 diferentes artistas tocando en el escenario, Luna Itzel, Luciano Callado Jazz Band y Mariachis para cerrar con broche de oro.  Tambien habrá una subasta silenciosa cuyos fondos están destinados al 100% al Internado de los niños de las rancherías de Todos Santos (albergue escolar # 3).

La noche anterior al evento, sábado 19 habrá dos cenas especiales de maridaje:

*Santo Vino de Hotel California con Baron Balch’e  (cocina ecléctica con fusión mexicana) – SOLD OUT

*Tre Galline con Vinart (cocina tradicional del norte de Italia)
