Baja California Culinary Fest

The second edition of the Baja California Culinary Fest will bring special dinners, cooking classes, competitions and music and guest chefs from Sinaloa to California throughout Northern Baja. Events will be held in Tijuana, Ensenada, Mexicali, Tecate and San Felipe.

Thursday October 11th: 

10:00am – 2:00pm Culinary Competitions at Culinary Art Schools. Open for students and professionals in two categories. Admission $23 US. Conference at Culinary Art School, two on Thursday 11th and two on Friday 12th. Admission $12 US each or $40 for four conference package.

8:00 pm Official Inauguration Night – A Tribute to the Caesar Salad. At the Gourmet area in Via Corporativo in Tijuana. The Caesar Salad will be re-interpreted by every single on of the participating chefs and will be served with Baja Med tasting and Guadalupe Valley wines as well as crafts Baja beers.

Culinary Competition Award Ceremony. Admission $40 US

Friday October 12th:

10:00 am – 1:00 pm Demo Classes. Food lovers can learn the secrets and techniques of the participating chefs during these demo cooking classes. At tHe Culinary Art School. Admission $20 US.

8:00 pm Special Dinners (paired with Baja California wines prepared by top chefs and a guest chef). Six in Tijuana, one in Mexicali, three in Ensenada, one in tecate, one in the Guadalupe Valley.

Cost: $1500 pesos

7:00 pm Temaky Sushi Bar
Restaurant Temaky Sushi Bar: with Chef Paul Zamudio.
Cost: $750 pesos

7:00 pm La Querencia
Restaurante La Querencia: with Chefs Miguel Angel Guerrero, Jose Ramon Castillo, and Jose Ramon Castillo.
Cost: $850 pesos

7:00 pm Mision 19
Restaurante Mision 19: with Chefs Javier Placencia, Guillermo Gonzalez, Trey Foshee, and Fernanda Prado.
Cost: $1,200 pesos

Saturday October 13th

9:00 am – 6:00 pm The Taste and Aromas of Baja Wine Country. Visit three wineries for tasting, visit the Wine Museum and finish your tour at the Food Fest from the “product to the table” at Encuentro Guadalupe. Admission $100 (includes tour, tasting and event admission).

7:00 am – 6:00 pm Shellfish on Board. A boat trip during which you will enjoy some of the best shellfish Baja has to offer, oysters, clams, mussels. Dinner at La Guerrense will follow. Admission $150 US includes food tasting on board. Food at La Guerrense not included. Min 12 people.

12:00 pm – 6:00 pm From the “product to the table”. Food Festival at Encuentro Guadalupe with participating restaurants. Host and guest chefs will be preparing your favorite dish in their own style. Live music and wine tasting. Admission $32 US (includes food and wine tasting).

8:00 Special Dinners prepared by top chefs and guest chefs. Six in Tijuana, one in Mexicali, three in Ensenda, one in Tecate, one in the Guadalupe Valley. Dinner cost from $50 to $120 US. Here’s a partial list of the special dinners:

Platos de Nostalgia: 8-course meal with chefs Andres Madrigal from Madrid (Spain), Manuel Brito Caesars from Tijuana, Javier Plascencia, Mario Espinoza from Merida (Yucatan) and Sergio Camacho.
Cost: $850 pesos

8:00 pm Restaurante en Punta Morro
Aires del Mayab: La Trascendencia de la Cocina Maya en la Gastronomía Contemporánea. With Chef Hugo Angulo from Colima at this beautiful ocean view restaurant and its international menu.
Cost: $1,050 pesos

Sunday October 14th:

10:00 am – 4:00 pm Tijuana Gastro Tour. Tour the hottest Street Food spots in Tijuana, the iconic Caesar’s Restaurant, the Tijuana Brewery and more. Finish your tour at the Tijuana Food Fest. Admission $20 US (includes tour and beverages, food not included). Min 5 people.

12:00 pm Puerto Nuevo Lobster Festival. Gastronomic Festival where local restaurants present lobster based dishes. Admission free.

12:00 pm Tijuana Food Fest at Plaza Galeria Hipodromo (Shopping Mall). The greates food fest in the city where you will be able to taste the Baja California cuisine. The best restaurant and Street Food from the state and a special participation by the state of Sinaloa. Kids play area. family event. Adult admission $5 US. Free for children under 15.
