What to do in the Loreto area

Most Loreto visitors spend their days at sea exploring Mexico’s largest marine preserve, the Parque Maritimo Nacional Bahia de Loreto. You can book a one-day kayak/snorkeling tour, a two-tank scuba diving trip, or a day of fishing from one of many local Panga Captains. Guided trips generally involve a visit to the nearby islands of Coronado, Carmen, or Danzante. Monserrate and Santa Catalina islands are at the southern end of the park.

Evenings are for strolling the plaza, malecon, and beach—before or after dining in one of the town’s many restaurants. Save a day for an excursion to the San Javier mission in the mountains or for whale-watching at Bahia Magdalena on the Pacific coast during Gray Whale season.

Winter months are high season in this Pueblo Magico town, but the fishing, paddling and diving are popular year round. Dorado Season is Summer and Fall.
