Jesuit Mission Museum

The Jesuit Mission Museum (Museo de las Misiones Jesuiticas) opened in December 1973 and is located in a convent built in the eighteenth century by the Jesuit religious order. The museum covers the history of the Baja and Alta California missions, from the colonization of America to the Conquest of Mexico. It safeguards and showcases about 300 pieces, including archaeological remains, sacred paintings and sculptures from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, bells, incense and ancient documents such as historical catechism printed in 1681 and a 1701 church book of commentaries.

Hours:  Tue-Sun: 9:00am-1:00 and 2:00-6:00
