Ruta del Vino Bike Ride and Wine Festival

The inaugural Ruta del Vino Bike Ride and Wine Festival starts with a scenic 40 mile road race and fun ride through Baja’s wine country, Valle de Guadalupe, and ends with a finish line fiesta featuring local wine, beer, cuisine and live music.

The entry fee for the bike ride is $55 ($60 at the event), but participants also receive an engraved wine glass, and VIP participants take home an engraved wine glass, plus a bottle of wine and a commemorative cycling jersey. The wine festival is open to the public, with no admission charge.

Shuttle service is available from San Diego and Ensenada.

The Start/Finish Line is at Rancho Guadalupe, located in the town of El Porvenir. From the ranch, you’ll ride north through the town of El Porvenir, then head south on Highway 3 (Tecate-Ensenada) over mostly flat terrain toward Ensenada, passing the Wine Museum and dozens of vineyards and wineries on your way to the town of San Antonio de las Minas.

The route continues straight through San Antonio de las Minas along Highway 3, where you’ll head south toward Ensenada, climbing up out of the valley and back down to the coast. You’ll then turn north on Highway 1D, the Scenic Toll Road, then back inland onto Highway 1, the old Free Road. Be ready to conquer El Tigre, a 1000 foot ascent out of the canyon. This uphill portion of the course is the reverse direction of our famous downhill for the Rosarito Ensenada Bike Ride, and is a challenging climb. Once atop of the mesa, you’ll descend back into the valley, passing another dozen wineries along your way to the finish line and Wine Festival.

Ruta del Vino is more than just another bike ride through the vineyards – it’s also a culinary experience! Once you cross the finish line, you’ll enter a festival of wine, beer, local cuisine, and live music. Taste award-winning varietals from the area’s best wine makers. Refresh yourself with ice cold Mexican beer. Savor cuisine prepared by local, award-winning chefs (think paella, oysters, quail, ceviche…). Indulge yourself in a gastronomical and enological experience you’ll remember for a lifetime!

The official date for this event has been announced. The inaugural Ruta del Vino Bike Ride and Wine Festival will take place Saturday, July 18, 2015. However, event dates and schedules are subject to sudden change and cancellation. Please confirm with the event organizer before booking your trip.
