33rd Annual La Misión Fiesta

The 33rd Annual La Misión Fiesta will take place at the site of San Miguel Arcangel de la Frontera Mission. This family event features rodeos, art exhibits, parades, regional food and live entertainment. Saturday night will also have a Cowboy Camp & Bonfire.


3:00 pm: rodeo demonstrations, a special presentation by folkloric dancers from La Misión and San Ysidro, CA
4:30 – 7:00 pm: 16th Annual State Calabaceado Dance Festival and Mexican folkloric groups
8:00 pm: bonfire, Kumiai song and dance, and local Calabaceado Dance Contest.

9:00 am: opening of the “Microhistory of the Settlement of La Misión” exposition and Catholic mass
10:00 am: civic parade
12:00 pm: official inauguration of the event
12:30 – 6:30 pm: folkloric dance groups including the exceptional “Dance of the Bighorn Sheep”
2:25 pm: a performance of “Mexican Airs” by guitarist Miguel de Hoyos with Paco Díaz and the Cabalgata Histórica (procession of costumed horseback riders)
3:00 pm: rodeo events
5:20 pm: special performance of “Nativo,” a contemporary dance production based on the history of Baja California
8:00 pm – 12:00 am: live music and dancing

Admission is free admission but a small parking donation is encouraged.

The official date for this event has been announced. The 33rd Annual La Misión Fiesta will take place May 25th through May 26th, 2013. However, events’ dates and details are subject to sudden change and cancellation. Please confirm with the event organizer before booking your trip.
