February Events in Northern Baja

There are scores of events at any time of the year throughout Baja.  The following are some of the key February events to be held in the coming weeks!  For a more complete schedule of events and activities, visit  the events pages.

Costume Ball – Baile de Mascaras y Disfraces
When: to be held on February 9th 2013
Where:  Ex Hotel Riviera del Pacifico
The Ex Hotel Riviera del Pacifico is hosting the Costume Ball  – Baile de Mascaras y Disfraces – to celebrate Carnival in style. Carnival is celebrated thoughout Mexico with parades and balls. Traditionally carnival costume parties are held the weekend before Mardi Gras until the following Tuesday (Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday).

Tickets purchased before February 1st are only $250 pesos, $300 after that. The ticket price will include a commemorative wine glass and wine tasting. Thirty local wineries will be participating. Tickets can be purchased Mon.-Fri., from 8:30 am-5:30 pm at Comité Provino, located on Avenida 20 de noviembre #1138 int. 2 between Calles 11 and 12 (one block from Autozone).




What:  The Fourth Annual Festival of Chocolate
When: to be held on February 16th 2013
If you believe that there are only four basic food groups: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, and chocolate truffles, this is the event for you. At the Sala de Tintos Bodegas de Santo Tomás in Ensenada you will be able to taste chocolate, learn about chocolate, and buy some  great chocolate. There will also be a contest for the best recipe prepared with chocolate.









10th Annual One Love Peace Concert
When:   The 10th Annual One Love Peace Concert  will take place February 23nd, 2013.
Where: You Revolution RPM-Electronic Bar on Av. Revolution.

Tijuana is paying homage to reggae legend Bob Marley with the 10th Annual One Love Peace Concert the day after Ensenada celebrates the 4th Annual One Love Peace Concert. Doors open at 8:00 pm at the You Revolution RPM-Electronic Bar on Av. Revolution.
Performing artists include Alika, Quinto Sol, Yami Bolo, Jah Fabio, Piracy, Jammin Green Shop, and DJ Mykol Orthodox.
Presale tickets are $100 pesos, $120 at the door.

Baja Prog
When:   April 3rd through April 6th, 2013.
Where:  Hotel Colonial and at Teatro del Estado.
In 2013 Baja Prog, the Great Progressive Rock Festival,returns after a four year hiatus. The event has been one of the major festivals world-wide, bringing together more than a hundred bands from around the world. Music lovers will gather in Mexicali to celebrate progressive rock music at its finest. A number of international artists have already been confirmed in the line up, such as Steve Hackett (UK), Eddie Jobson (UK), The Crimson Project USA/UK), The New Trolls (Italy), Anglagard (Sweden), Three Friends (UK), Locanda delle Fate (Italy), Galahad (UK), Mystery (Canada), Panzerballet (Germany), Jelonek (Poland), and Gran Turismo Veloce (Italy).

San Felipe
San Felipe Cancer Walk
When:  The San Felipe Cancer Walk will take place February 23rd, 2013.
Where:  The walk will start at the Arches and end at the Malecon.

Every year the San Felipe Cancer Walk helps raise funds that provide cancer screening, education and treatment to hundreds of women in San Felipe.
Those who can’t make the event are welcome to make a donation to the San Felipe Cancer Society or sponsor a walker.
In 2006, the “Caminata Contra El Cancer”, was initiated by founding members Freda Barber and Michele MacDonald with the support of the “Rotary Club of San Felipe”, the San Felipe “Club Las Amigas” and the “San Felipe Association of Retired Persons”.

La Playa Motocross
When:  The La Playa Motocross will take place February 23rd, 2013.
Where:  CEARTE, Blvd. Costero & Ave. Club Rotario
Every year La Playa Motocross in Rosarito attracts the best riders from Baja and Southern California, they will compete on various classes, on ATVs and motorcycles from beginner to expert. Registration fees go from $30 to $50 (US) depending on experience and type of vehicle.

Blues & Arts Fiesta
When:  March 22 & 23
Where:  Ventana al Mar, El Dorado Ranch

After 6 successful years, the Annual San Felipe Blues & Arts Fiesta is back for its seventh installment, only this year it is bigger and better with two days of music and art. Once again, the San Felipe BC Lion’s Club and the Baja Good Life Club have joined forces to support the community through music and art.

The San Felipe Blues and Arts Fiesta is the first and original Baja blues event and each year continues to grow and attract art and music fans from throughout Baja, Sonora, California, and Arizona. This year, the San Felipe Blues & Arts Fiesta will take place on March 22 and March 23 at the Pavilion, located in Ventana del Mar in El Dorado Ranch. The Pavilion is one of the main landmark venues in San Felipe and offers amazing sea and mountain views at La Ventana del Mar, a world-class golf and beach resort that attracts numerous visitors from around the world.

The 2013 band lineup includes some of the most celebrated blues bands and artists in the area.
