Rancho Pescadero, a luxurious boutique beach hotel situated on a secluded two-mile beach an hour north of Cabo San Lucas, will once again host its acclaimed Guest Chef Weekend Series in 2017.
This series of weekend culinary events, held in the resort’s Garden Restaurant near Todos Santos, began three years ago and features top chefs from North America. This year, the lineup includes award-winning chefs from Aspen, Denver, Dallas and San Antonio; all of whom will teach, cook and host during select weekends at the hotel.
The first two events of the year will see chefs from Colorado take over the kitchen. On March 9-12, Matt O’Neill of Aspen Kitchen in Aspen will be featured, while Alex Seidel of Fruition Restaurant and Mercantile Dining & Provision in Denver will participate April 6-9. Matt McCallister of FT33 and Filament of Dallas will take over June 8-11 and Jason Dady of Tre Trattoria, Two Bros. BBQ Market and Shuck Shack, in San Antonio will be the guest chef for July 6-9. An additional guest chef weekend will take place May 4-7, with the chef to be announced soon.
Rancho Pescadero is also pleased to announce that Chef Cesar Pita has joined forces with the hotel, where he calls on his global culinary background and farm-to-table experience to create memorable dishes for guests of the Garden Restaurant. Pita’s global culinary expertise comes from a wide variety of cultures, from as far off as Norway to as close as his home state of Querétaro, Mexico. Pita most recently worked with acclaimed chef Jean Georges at Cabo’s luxurious One&Only Palmilla resort in 2016, maintaining rigid standards of quality and perfection at Seared, the property’s steakhouse.
Surrounded by Rancho Pescadero’s own gardens, the restaurant grows much of its own produce on-site, while Pita sources the rest from local purveyors in nearby Todos Santos, combining them with worldly techniques to create fresh, boldly flavored cuisine. Guests visiting Rancho Pescadero now have the opportunity to meet him and try his dishes.
The Guest Chef itinerary includes the following activities:
- Cooking demo and lunch with Guest Chef
- Tequila and mezcal tasting with Bar Manager Danny Sanchez
- Baja wine tasting
- Tasting Menu dinner by Guest Chef in the Garden Restaurant
Package pricing (which does not include lodging) is $250 per person plus tax, and includes all of the above food and beverage offerings, and a Rancho Pescadero apron. Guests who book the package will receive 15% off their room rate for the duration of their stay.
In addition to the guest chef weekends, Rancho Pescadero will be hosting Body, Mind & Soul Yoga Retreats on March 15-19 and July 12-16, 2017 and Yoga, Surf, and Nutrition Retreats on April 26-30 and August 9-13, 2017.
The official dates for this event have been announced. The Rancho Pescadero 2017 Guest Chef Weekend Series are scheduled for March 9-12, April 6-9, May 4-7, June 8-11, and July 6-9, 2017.
