Hail Caesar! On June 24th Tijuana will be celebrating one of its most famous creations, the Caesar salad. An Italian immigrant named Cesare Cardini living in Tijuana, improvised the famous salad dressing during a busy work day in 1924 when he ran out of other supplies at his Caesar’s Restaurant which today is still standing on Revolution Avenue. Famed chef Juan Plascencia and his family have restored the restaurant to its original glory since taking it over in 2010.
To celebrate this culinary heritage, Caesar’s Restaurant will host the annual Caesar Salad Festival on June 24th. There will be local music, art, a children’s area, and of course, gourmet cuisine.
