Executive Chef Tadd Chapman’s Habanero’s blends the European style bistro with an eclectic Mexican fusion menu all the while keeping things Baja casual. Offering breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday thru Saturday, you’ll find this popular bistro has something for everyone.

For lunch the options are endless; from designer salads with unique homemade dressings to burritos, tacos or the best burger in town made from scratch daily.
At dinner you’ll find a variety of interesting appies such as our frazzled prawns with roasted red pepper aioli or our gingered spring rolls with tamarind and black plum reduction, exquisite entrees including some Mexican favorites with international flair, blackened ahi tuna and the best surf and turf in town! If you play your cards right Victor (the night waiter and in house illusionist) might show you one of his many magic tricks.

The owner and Executive Chef F. Tadd Chapman hails from Vancouver Island, on the beautiful west coast of Canada where he began his culinary studies at the age of 15. Through high school Tadd work at the Winchelsea House restaurant under Swiss Chef Gerd Voight and graduated with honors while enjoying a class load consisting of 50% culinary classes in Dover Bay Secondary’s professional kitchen. After high school Tadd choose the culinary arts program at VIU (Malispina) under Master Chef Hubert Scheck, and Chef Alex Rennie among others, excelling once again graduating at the top of his class averaging a 3.9 GPA. After working for CP Hotels and Resort for a year, Tadd was coaxed down to Mexico by his father in 1998. Quickly falling in love with Los Cabos and the Mexican culture, Tadd moved down a month later to open his first of many restaurants, The Tulip Tree in April of 1998. Later opening Habanero’s in 2004, Tadd coined the term “Mexican Fusion” Cuisine to best describe his imaginative use of local ingredients and concepts with international flavors. In 2010 Tadd was voted “Best Chef in Los Cabos” by the general public in the Cabo Social “Best of Cabo Awards”. In summer of 2012 the prestigious Mexico Traveller Magazine featured Tadd along with 2 others as one of the top Celebrity chefs of Mexico. Fourteen years and many restaurants later, Chef F. Tadd Chapman and his restaurants (Habanero’s Gastro Grill, Don Sanchez) have become important pieces in the Los Cabos dining and social scene. Tadd is also a generous contributors to community and local charities. Look for Chef Chapman’s newest concept, The Retro Burger Bar, to open in fall of 2012.
