San Jose del Cabo was founded in the 1700s, so looking at the town in itself is a wonderful activity. Downtown is filled with stores and restaurants. The historic district in San Jose del Cabo is where cultural happenings take place and its Art District is one-of-a-kind.
San Jose del Cabo is on the Sea of Cortez, where surfing, snorkeling and scuba diving are at the top of the activities list, and the new Puerto Los Cabos Marina offers boating and fishing. Eco tours can take you see the natural beauties of the region, like the Cactus Museum or the Natural Estero.
Shopping, strolling, fine dining, and gallery tours are popular past-times in the downtown area. Along Playa California, you can take long beach walks or ride a horse. La Playita has a large marina complex with panga boats for rent and fish-cleaning stations. There may be surf at Playa Costa Azul, depending on the season. Head to the corridor for calmer swimming beaches.
