When it premiered in 2013, Los Cabos Open of Surf was the first 6-star ASP (Association of Surf Professionals) sanctioned men’s event in Mexico. In 2014, it also became the first 6-star ASP surfing event in Mexico for women. In 2015, the ASP changed its name to the WSL (World Surf League), and the competition became a pro event for women, and junior men and women. That format remains in place for the 2017 event.
The location has been the one constant. Since its inception, the Los Cabos Open of Surf has taken place at the Zippers point break off Playa Costa Azul in San Jose del Cabo, one of the premier surf spots in Baja California Sur. Ancillary music and food events are expected to accompany the fifth annual competition, scheduled June 6–11, but have yet to be announced.
The official dates for this event have been announced. The 5th annual Los Cabos Open of Surf will take place June 6–11, 2017. However, event dates and schedules are subject to sudden change and cancellation. Please confirm with the event organizer before booking your trip.
