Horseback riding and Equestrian Arts at Cuadra San Francisco in Los Cabos
Cuadra San Francisco is a family owned and operated Equestrian Center with more than 50 horses. It offers outstanding trail rides, and specializes in private rides. All horses are well fed and well trained, and the staff of Cuadra San Francisco takes pride in the stables and the horses. All trail rides go out with knowledgeable English-speaking guides. San Francisco is located on the corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo in Cabo Real, next to the Cabo Real golf course.
In addition to trail rides and riding lessons, Cuadra San Francisco provides carriages for special occasions (weddings, anniversaries, etc.). To provide a special and elegant flair for events and weddings, there are even ‘dancing’ horses. All of the horses are lovingly nurtured, professionally trained and maintained for amateurs and advanced riders, and there are even special horses for children (four years and older) so that the whole family can enjoy their experience together. Cuadra San Francisco offers choices of trails, the beautiful beach of Cabo Real or the ecological tour of the canyons and hills showcasing the flora and fauna of Baja which is different than any where else in the world.
Master Horseman Francisco J. Barrena, owner and trainer, established Cuadra San Francisco in Los Cabos in 1994. His son, Valente F. Barrena, is a former grand prix jumper and champion charro, and has taken over the Equestrian School. Visitors can be assured that they are in good hands at Cuadra San Francisco.
Cuadra San Francisco offers one- and two-hour trail rides and also private rides just for a group and a guide. Riders can visit the beach, the hills or the canyon, or a combination. There is no better way to enjoy the hills and canyons of the Baja peninsula than to experience up-close the wild landscape that makes Baja unique. One trail ride — an hour long — takes riders to a look-out point and a unique view of the Sea of Cortez, making this a wonderful place for photos that will capture the moment forever.
Children from the age of four are able to ride their own horses. It is recommended that the riders wear shoes with a heel or tennis shoes and long pants. We would like our guests to arrive 15 minutes early so we can make sure that we have the proper mounts ready.
