Rosarito Beach has long been famous as a magnet for spring-breakers, but that image is changing. Today, thanks in large part to the leadership of the city government and to the efforts of former Rosarito Mayor and owner of the Rosarito Beach Hotel & Resort Hugo Torres, Rosarito is becoming a cultural hub. It’s location, just 30 minutes from the US border, makes it an ideal place for a weekend get-away to attend one of the many festivals and events that take place.
There are many great events in Rosarito, but here are a few stand-outs!
Rosarito-Ensenada Bike Ride is held in the spring and the fall, and attracts an ever-growing number of riders from the US, Mexico and the world. This is is a 50 mile bicycle ride along the Pacific Ocean as well as through rural countryside from the Rosarito Beach to Ensenada. The entire course is paved. Live music, food and drink will await participants at the finish line at the Hotel Corona in Ensenada. The ride starts in front of the Rosarito Beach Hotel.
Annual Mariachi and Folkloric Festival has become a signature Rosarito event, raising funds for the new Rosarito Beach Boys and Girls Club. The event celebrates the best in mariachi music, from big bands to individual ‘mariachi divas’.
Rosarito Art Fest is held twice annually, in the spring and fall, and shuts down the entire main drag of Benito Juarez, in the touist area near the Rosarito Beach Hotel. The event features scores of artists and crafts booths, foods, music and more.
