The 6th Chinto Mendoza Jazz Festival is about to begin and delight jazz lovers in Baja California with some local and international jazz musicians. The melodious notes of the jazz will echo in different locations throughout the State, such as the Teatro del Estado in Mexicali, the Foro del CEMAC in Rosarito, the Plaza de las Artes del CEARTE in Ensenada, the Multiforo del ICBC in Tijuana, the Foro Leona Vicario de San Quintín and the Jardín Cerveza in Tecate.
In this edition, the festival will include the participation of talented groups from Baja California such as Mexicali Latin Jazz, Madame Ur y sus Hombres and Neto Lizarra´s Tj Jazz Band, and of course Hyacinth “Chinto” Mendoza. From the State of Chiapas, Na´rimbó will present its fusion of the traditional marimba and new forms of contemporary popular music, especially Chiapaneca, mixed with a dose of Caribbean Afro rhythms. Composer and pianist Amina Figarova and her sextet will present her unique approach to jazz that goes from avant-garde to funk. From San Diego, percussionist and Mexican composer Charlie Chávez, “the gentleman of percussion”, will participate with his Quartet bringing his impeccable presentation of musical originality.
In Mexicali, the concerts will take place at the Teatro del Estado every evening for three days starting April 19th at 7:00pm.
