This is not the Mexico of cruise ships and spring break. This is a rich tapestry of Old Mission traditions, authentic lifestyles and a wealth of Mexican culture. Loreto was the first capital of The Californias. Here, historic missions still await the prayerful in the shadows of the Sierra La Giganta Mountains and fishing boats dot the intense blue of the Sea of Cortez. La Mision is just a 1½ hour flight from Los Angeles but an eternity from the noise, crowds and stress of the other Mexico.

Let me start by saying that I have lived, worked and traveled throughout most of Mexico over the years. I was especially fond of the old Los Cabos area and the way it used to feel before the mega resorts invaded. Hotel La Mision and Loreto took me back to those days where a very chill vibe and the potential of something great happening greeted me each day. Everything about this property is superb, from the ultra comfy rooms to the restaurant and bar. It appears that no expense was spared during construction, and the attention to detail had me muttering in disbelief. But above and beyond the hotel itself is the staff at La Mision. They take a great deal of pride in this property, and go above and beyond to make sure each guest feels special. There is no place I would rather be in all of Baja.
