Have a Baja Moment! A one hour car ride from either Todos Santos, the East Cape or La Paz can bring you to the 6th Annual Artisan Festival in El Triunfo this March, an event in support of local artisans.
The festival in El Triunfo will begin at 11:30 am with a folklorico dance performance by students from the Universidad Autonoma de Baja California followed at 12:15 by the band Nueva Kamada and artist Luna Itzel. At 2:15 pm Duna Conde and Alan Flores will also perform in a free concert.
Two events will also take place at 1:30 and 3:00 pm and will require an entrance fee. These will be two classical music shows, the first beginning with Luna Itzel’s homage to Chavela Vargas. She will be accompanied by Ceci Miro, and the cost per person is $100 pesos (Approx $8 USD). Seating is limited. The second show, at 3:00 pm is a classical music performance held at the Piano Museum, with an entry fee of $150 pesos (Approx $12 USD).
A short hike from the museum and you will discover the 35 meter-high smelter smoke stack design by Gustav Eiffel (the same Eiffel of the famous tower in France) and a group of ruins from the old mining era. The spot has been left untouched and the remaining brick structures offer a great opportunity to take pictures.
The sale of paintings, sculptures, regional arts and crafts, local food and beverages will be ongoing throughout the day.
This is an event for the whole family and a very unique way to spend St Patrick’s day.
