Many visits to La Paz are motivated by practicalities like studying Spanish, but the city offers plenty of other ways to fill your time as well!
Perhaps you are in town for business and have an extra day to explore the area, or maybe you are stopping for a night on your way to another Baja destination. Whatever the reason for your visit, there are many ways to enjoy a single day in La Paz. You might head to the malecon for a stroll, spend a couple of hours in a cafe, browse the shops downtown, and enjoy tacos on the plaza for dinner. Adventure seekers could book a day of activity on the water – fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, and scuba diving are all possible most times of year. For something more relaxing, head to one of the beaches along the Pichilingue Peninsula.
A long weekend opens up more possibilities for cultural experiences and outdoor adventure. Allow a day for the cultural center and anthropology museum. Then try an excursion to Todos Santos, Bahia La Ventana, or the East Cape.
Want to pack in the fun? You could add a guided overnight trip to the islands, more sportfishing or diving, or play a round of golf. Mountain biking and desert hiking are spectacular if you happen to arrive just after the seasonal rains.
Week-long visits give you enough time to explore the city and surrounding areas, with two or three activity days in the mix. You could also sign up for a Spanish language class. Try all the beaches along the Pichilingue Peninsula. Sail on a catamaran. Camp out on the islands. Or book a liveaboard dive trip.
