At Leo’s Baja Oasis, they know that when it comes to sportfishing or fly fishing, Baja California, or “the Baja,” has it all: Variety, size and numbers of fish, year-round access, generally very calm seas with little or no swell, short morning runs, clear blue skies, generous catch limits, friendly and knowledgable guides.

Fly Fishing Specialists
The Leo’s team fishes two areas that, while separated by only a few nautical miles, each area is very different from the other. At times, one area “turns on” while the other slows down, but very rarely do they both refuse to give up fish.
Their boat is moored at Marina Costa Baja and is a short drive five-minute drive from Leo’s Baja Oasis resort. It is best suited for two or three anglers and when they have extra guests, they use local captains and their boats, usually fishing side by side.
Specific sportfishing areas recommended include El Bajo seamount, Punta Norte at the northernmost tip of Isla Cerralvo, and the waters surrounding Isla Espirito Santo (where permitted). They use 23-24 foot covered super-pangas whic are the norm in this area.
Your hosts, Leonard (Leo) Bishop & Romina Navarro Renteria, work hard to make sure that your sportfishing or fly fishing activities are fun, and that your stay in La Paz and “the Baja” are memorable.
