I live in Wisconsin and someone had told me once that tenents do not have to pay for carpet cleaning when they move out as it is "normal wear and tear". The place I live at now wants to charge me $80 which will be taken out of my security deposit. The person that told me this is a landlady herself and said she never charges her tenents for carpet cleaning because she said as of sometime last year landlords could no longer charge for carpet cleaning. Please advise as to whether or not I have to pay for the carpet cleaning and if I do not, please provide me with something stating this fact so I can give a copy to my landlord. Also, it states in my lease that I am responsible for the carpet cleaning but the other landlady I talked with said the new rules should override my lease.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Danielle
