RE: kayaking tours
yeah i've tried it before and its amazing! we asked the hotel we're staying at to book us for a full day kayaking tour and cost just $450 per person. i think that includes all the equipment we needed (rental fees for kayaks, life preservers, binoculars etc), the tour guides and the meals. We went kayak hopping all over the islands which i didn't even know existed in baja. you should really try it, its fun!

RE: kayaking tours
it does sound like fun! i heard espiritu santo is a popular kayaking place because there are nearby islands with mangroves and coral reefs. does anyone know though if you can go near the protected areas in baja or do you need like permits or something?

RE: kayaking tours
hey there baja people! hi kyscrapress, welcome to the forum.
about your question, I know there are several protected reefs and islands off espiritu santo and yes, you do have to have permits or guides in order to stay there. its great to kayak there and camp at night all you have to do is inquire around the marina regarding where you're supposed to go to get a permit. hope this helps

RE: kayaking tours
just came back from a weekend in Baja and i finally got to try sea kayaking. didn't think it was a hard sport but it was pretty tough especially if you have a queasy stomach like me and don't like the motion of the waves constantly rocking your boat from side to side. thankfully i didn't puke in the ocean and i had a pretty good time after taking some seasickness patches. @thanks for the info athan420!

RE: kayaking tours
nice sea kayaking in cabo no doubt. great beaches, amazing reefs. pretty pricey though cause it's where all the tourists and vacationers go. try la paz kayaking too, its different from cabo since you'd be in the mar de cortes but the waters and marine life are unbelievable.

RE: kayaking tours
went sea kayaking just last week at la paz and a really amazing thing happened. My girlfriend suddenly screamed while we were kayaking along with other tourists in a tour off the coast of lapaz cause a really large silhouette passed from beneath us. most of the girls got scared while the guides tried to calm them down saying no one gets attacked by sharks at la paz. funny thing was that we found out it was just a whale shark, one of those humongous fishes that eat plankton.

RE: kayaking tours
This is fun! I felt the Holy Ghost is a popular place for kayaking, because there are islands close to mangroves and coral reefs. nobody knows if you go near the protected areas Baja or whatever you need, such as permissions or something else?
