The origins of “The Happiest Race on Earth” date back to the 1967, when Ed Pearlman and the National Off-Road Racing Association organized the inaugural running of the event that would eventually become famous as the “Baja 1000.” Although that legendary race is now run under the SCORE Banner, NORRA revived the spirit of those bygone days when it restarted the Mexican 1000 as a fun, vintage-flavored rally race in 2010.
The 8th annual race starts in Ensenada on Sunday, April 23 (after tech inspections and drivers’ meetings the previous two days), and courses down the peninsula through El Rosario, Bahia de Los Angeles, San Ignacio, Loreto, and La Paz, before finishing in Los Cabos on Wednesday, April 27. Registration is open to cars, trucks, motorcycles, dune buggies and ATVs, with split courses for some vehicle and vintage classes planned to enhance safety and maximize competition within individual categories.
The official dates for this event have been announced. The 8th annual NORRA Mexican 1000 is scheduled for April 21 – 27, 2017. However, event dates and schedules are subject to sudden change and cancellation. Please confirm with the event organizer before booking your trip.
