Located at the entrance of Los Barriles in the charming Plaza del Pueblo Mall, the Roadrunner Cafe and Bakery is a favorite hangout for locals and visitors alike. It is a 1950s style American diner restaurant indoors, complete with booths and fountain bar stools and completely Mexican style outdoors with shaded dining under a large palapa. For years, the Roadrunner Cafe and Bakery has been the place in Los Barilles for great American food for breakfast, lunch and during season, dinners on Wednesday night. A full menu breakfast is available all day long, and lunch features some of the best hamburgers, salads and sandwiches you’re likely to find anywhere in the Baja. The Los Barriles restaurant Roadrunner Cafe Bakery produces a huge variety of freshly baked breads, muffins, cakes , cookies which are served at the restaurant along with some of the best espresso coffee and fountain drinks on the peninsula. Join us every Wednesday evening during season (mid-October through mid-June) for dinner and open mic. We had arrived in Los Barilles noonish for the semi-annual Art Festival and decided to try out the Roadrunner Cafe located just off the highway for brunch. We immediately snagged an outdoor table beneath the vine covered pergola and were attended almost instantaneously by a friendly, smiling, menu-bearing waiter. There was a huge selection of breakfast and lunch goodies, but we both chose the whole-wheat nutty pancakes - mine with fruit and my SO's with sausage. While we waited for the order, we peaked inside the restaurant which was decorated like a good old fashioned 50s diner, replete with booths and a fountain area. The bakery's products were on display and for sale inside too. When we returned to our table, the large, light and very tasty pancakes were served. SO totally impressed that ample syrup was brought with the order. I tried one of the special chai tea drinks which was really delicious, but I just don't remember which one it was. Fully nourished and relaxed after the drive, we took off for the festival, but we'll be back to the Roadrunner again!
