Mallorca, Spain – The International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO), a global trade association of the golf tourism industry, has named Los Cabos, Mexico as the ‘Latin America & Caribbean Golf Destination of the Year’ for 2017 in recognition of its exceptional golf courses and unique geographical setting. The announcement of this benchmark accolade was made at a gala awards dinner at the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) held this year in the city of Palma, Mallorca.

World-Class Courses Offers Discounted Greens Fees, Twilight Rates

Golfers who visit Los Cabos this summer can expect well-conditioned courses, plenty of availability, a friendly Cabo welcome—and deeply discounted green fees. Summer is family vacation time, but it’s also the season that invites golfers to take a swing at bargain rates on a bevy of world-class venues.

For example, at Palmilla Golf Club, recently treated to a $3.5 million renovation, “dynamic pricing” enables players to take advantage of adjusted rates based on demand, availability and other factors. The club offers discounted rates starting at $105 for an 18-hole round at Palmilla, the “Grande Dame” of Los Cabos golf and the first Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course built in Latin America. For an ultra-luxe vacation, the 27-hole facility’s golf packages feature accommodations at One&Only Palmilla, a world-class property ranked in the top 1% by TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice Awards.

At Cabo del Sol, the outstanding 36-hole complex with superb designs by Jack Nicklaus (Ocean Course) and Tom Weiskopf (Desert Course), segmented pricing through Sept. 30 entices golfers with the best values of the year. For instance, from 12:30 to 3:20 p.m., green fees on the Ocean and Desert layouts are priced at $150 and $100, respectively. Rates drop to $115 and $75, respectively, after 3:30 p.m. Discounted replay rates are available at Cabo del Sol, as are attractively-priced golf packages in conjunction with the Sheraton Grand Los Cabos Hacienda del Mar.

Summer Golf Deals in Los Cabos

The spectacular 13th hole at Quivira, one of many world-class courses in Los Cabos offering discounted greens fees this summer.

At Quivira Golf Club (pictured above), its Jack Nicklaus-designed course marked by sheer granite cliffs, huge windswept dunes and rolling desert foothills, players are privy to summer rates in two time slots through Sept. 30. Quivira’s mid-morning rate to play a world-class layout with more oceanfront exposure than any other course in Los Cabos is $267 (11 a.m. to 1:24 p.m.). The twilight fee, available from 1:36 to 3:00 p.m., is $227. Rates include food and refreshments at the club’s four comfort stations. ‘Stay & Play Packages’ at Pueblo Bonito resort properties are available.

All three Questro Golf courses in Los Cabos offer significant seasonal discounts through Oct. 31. Puerto Los Cabos, situated on the outskirts of San Jose del Cabo, boasts a unique composite layout with nine-hole designs by Greg Norman and Jack Nicklaus. (A third nine by Nicklaus is under construction and will open next year). The 18-hole green fee at Puerto Los Cabos is $195. The twilight rate (after 1:30 p.m.) is $135. In addition, dynamic pricing at Puerto Los Cabos brings low season rates down to $115 based on availability. Complimentary refreshments are served at a pair of on-course palapas.

At Cabo Real, centerpiece of a resort development with 3.2 miles of beachfront, an 18-hole green fee of $180 and a twilight rate of $125 after 1:30 p.m. are promoted on the club’s Robert Trent Jones II-designed layout, a superb layout that climbs from the beachfront into steep desert foothills high above the Sea of Cortes.

Questro Golf’s Club Campestre, located five minutes from downtown San Jose del Cabo and a local favorite, is a Nicklaus Design course chiseled into sloping desert terrain that offers excellent value. In addition to an 18-hole green fee of $140 and a twilight rate of $100 that starts at 11 a.m. Campestre also has a dynamic pricing structure that reduces green fees on selected dates to $75, arguably the best bang for the buck in Los Cabos.

Among other amenities, green fees at all Los Cabos facilities include shared golf cart, use of practice facility and bottled water.

Fred Couples to Design Twin Dolphin Golf Club in Los Cabos

The new Fred Couples designed Twin Dolphin Golf Club will be set near the scenic shores of Santa Maria Bay in the corridor that connects cape cities Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo.

Design and development of the course, which will be the first Fred Couples Signature Golf Course in Los Cabos, has begun with a target opening date in 2018. Holland America To Expand Mexico Program in 2016-17

New Mexican Riviera Cruises Stop in Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta

SEATTLE, March 23, 2016 — Holland America Line is strengthening its presence in Mexico for the 2016-17 season by increasing the number of departures and returning a larger Vista-class ship to the region. From October 2016 through February 2017, the 1,916-guest ms Westerdam will sail a series of 13 seven-day cruises roundtrip from San Diego, California, including two special holiday departures in December.

To kick off the season, the ship will depart from Vancouver, British Columbia, Oct. 18, 2016, on an 11-day itinerary. Boasting sun-kissed skies, golden beaches and azure seas, the Mexican Riviera is an ideal getaway for travelers looking to visit a destination that’s rich in culture, color and cuisine.

Holland America to Expand Mexico Program

An 11-Day Mexican Riviera Cruise Opens the Season
Departing Oct. 18, ms Westerdam sails from Vancouver to San Diego on an 11-day Mexican Riviera itinerary. The ship visits Santa Barbara, California, before calling at San Diego the first time, then continues on to make calls at the Mexican ports of Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta before returning to San Diego at the end of the voyage. Guests who want to take a seven-day portion can embark Oct. 22 in San Diego following the call at Santa Barbara.

Seven-Day Mexican Riviera Itinerary Sails Roundtrip from San Diego
For the remainder of the season, Westerdam sails a series of 13 seven-day Mexican Riviera cruises where guests will get a great feel for the country and all that it has to offer. Sailing roundtrip from San Diego through Feb. 7, 2017, the itinerary calls at Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta. Three days at sea allow plenty of time to relax and explore the abundance of amenities offered on board.

Platinum Luxury Auctions Announces Upcoming Auction of Cabo San Lucas Mansion

Following on the momentum of a flawless series of auctions – selling three-of-three luxury homes in southern California’s San Diego County – Platinum Luxury Auctions has ventured south of the border into Mexico’s Baja California Sur, with the announcement of a luxury real estate auction planned for April 30, 2016 in Cabo San Lucas.
