On the 16th of March 2008, an alleged kidnapper and drug trafficker was arrested in the town of San Felipe, Baja California in Mexico. This suspected drug trafficker and kidnapper is also wanted in the United States according to the WSVN-TV article which the news came from, because of participating in the shooting of a journalist back in 1997.
The name of the arrested suspect is Saul Montes de Oca and he is currently being held due to charges of kidnapping according to a report from the Public Safety Department of San Felipe, Baja California. The journalist from Tijuana who Montes de Oca allegedly shot in 1997 was Jesus Blancornelas. Blancornelas did not die from the gun shot wound however, but he died due to natural causes in 2006 without seeing the perpetrator for his shooting not put to justice.
The United States has also filed a request that Montes de Oca be extradited to the US where he will be filed criminal charges for allegedly being involved in organized crime and drug trafficking and the petition is already pending for approval.
