It seems like there is no stopping Rosarito City from improving the sense of community building in the city as well as cleaning up its image. On the 15th of March 2008, more than 200 locals, tourists and city officials flocked to the beach of Rosarito to attend the well organized event called “Ponle Color a la Playa” or “Give Color to the Beach” in English.
The said event unfolded throughout the entire day and treated everyone who came to a whole array of recreational activities and fun sports including beach volleyball, sandcastle building contests, surfing, swimming, sunbathing, and even beach soccer. Not only that but the event also involved the creative painting of more than 75 beach trashcans that were placed strategically along the shore to help encourage beach-goers to contribute to the cleanliness of Rosarito Beach. Called “Graffiti with a Cause”, the participants and volunteers in this small project painted fishes, waves, boats and bubbles and other designs that feature the beauty of the ocean and the beach.
Some of the attendees that contributed and participated in the relevant as well as the enjoyable activities that day included members of the Rosarito Tourist Patrol, Red Cross volunteers, Rosarito Beach lifeguards, members of the Green Patrol,Special Young People Patrol volunteers, Anti-Graffiti Commissioner David Flores Fraga and of course, Rosarito Mayor Hugo Torres.
