On February or March of this year, the main fire station of Rosarito, Baja California would be relocated from Rene Ortiz Street in Rosarito to Colonia Constitucion where a local fire substation is currently located. This is due to the heavy traffic which can usually be found along Rene Ortiz Street and surrounding areas which offers the possibility of delaying fire trucks from making quick responses to emergency situations.
That does not mean however that the Rosarito fire station in Rene Ortiz Street would be completely abandoned and vacated. Several members of the fire department would be left in the downtown fire station at Rene Ortiz Street and the station would function as a support substation. The downtown substation would serve the downtown area of Playas de Rosarito in case of fire and other emergency situations.
According to Rosarito Fire Department Chief Mr. Hector Castelan Medina, this is only one of the several changes and additions that the local fire department is planning to do. Further plans include the addition of two more substations to serve the municipality of Rosarito, Baja California.
