As the month of March slowly come to an end, there are still several artistic and cultural events that would take place in Baja California before the month finally comes to a close. A number of film showings, theater performances and cultural events are still to take place in different cities in the peninsula of Baja California, Mexico.
On the 28th until the 30th of March this year, the 1989 movie masterpiece recreation of Robert Harling of a play with the same title will be shown at the Vic Theatre in Rosarito City, Baja California. This English film features the talents of Olympia Dukakis, Dolly Parton, Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine and the beautiful Julia Roberts. In fact it is in this film that Julia Roberts got her very first nomination for Best Supporting Actress category at the Oscars.

On the 29th and 30th of March too, a play entitled Citizen Mendez – Aboard the American Freedom Train, would also be shown, this time in Ensenada City, Baja California. This gripping play directed by Irka Davis is a political drama which tackles the journey towards attaining the American Dream, a topic very familiar with Baja border cities. It will be held at 7pm on Saturday and 2pm on Sunday at the Gertrude Pearlman Theatre of the Campo La Jolla at Punta Banda, Ensenada.
