Fairs, Festivals and Fiestas – June Events in Baja
The summer event season kicks off with a bang in Baja California, thanks to signature peninsular to-dos in both Ensenada and Los Cabos. The 48th annual Baja 500, precursor to the famed finishing race of SCORE’s annual off-road series – the doubly rugged Baja 1000 – starts and finishes in Ensenada; and in the nearby wine country of Valle de Guadalupe, the Festival del Caballo, Arte y Vino welcomes back visitors for its 14th summer celebration of art, culture, cuisine and the pastoral pleasures of horseback riding.
At the bottom of the peninsula, in Los Cabos, the Stars and Stripes golf and fishing tournament returns for its 20th edition. One of the most successful of the resort area’s charitable endeavors, this annual paean to outdoor life in Cabo has raised millions of dollars for worthy causes, and always features a slate of world-class musical entertainment. Speaking of world-class, the famed Zippers point break at Playa Costa Azul in San Jose del Cabo is once again the site for the World Surf League’s Los Cabos Open of Surf, a pro event for women and junior competitors of both sexes. As with Stars and Stripes, live musical performances provide nightly counterpoint to the daytime sport.
There are hundreds of local events that can be found on Baja.com. The following represent some of our favorite selections.
