Baja California gastronomy at its best

With the objective to promote the gastronomy of the region, from the 11th through the 14th of October the second edition of Baja Culinary Fest will take place, with the presence of local distinguished chefs plus special guests.

Once again the main stars of this festival — which will take place in Ensenada, Rosarito and Tijuana — will be regional ingredients.

Just about 25 local chefs along with special guests will present their dishes with the culinary style of Baja Med, which has captured the attention of millions thanks to the recognition Baja Med has received at the international level.

Marina Perez, director of Creativa Marketing Ad Agency, explained that in the first year of this event, the biggest focus was to expose the richness of Baja, which was a great success.

“As a result of this great effort many important chefs have come to discover what Baja is about. Also great thanks is due to the support that the government tourist office has given to this effort.”

In the four days of activity, the best restaurants of the region will offer dinner specials, interactive activities, cooking classes along with seminars with well known chefs. This year’s featured region will be the state of Sinaloa, bringing with them the best of their cuisine.

“We chose a neighboring state of the northwest to boost the regional gastronomy, since we share the same sea and its products,” said Luisa Balderas, accounts coordinator of Creativa Marketing.

Promoting the Ensenada region, one top advocate has been Chef Miguel Angel Guerrero, owner of restaurants La Querencia, El Taller in Tijuana and Almazara in Guadalupe Valley, Ensenada. “The main focal points of this cuisine are the products of Baja and its freshness,” said Chef Guerrero in an interview at his restaurant La Querencia, noting that the Baja peninsula is “blessed” to have all of the amazing fresh and organic products that make this gastronomy possible.
