I have been staying with Jaun and Shari for nearly 8 years. They are without a doubt the best resource for for everything from lodging, to tours, and beyond. Heck they even came over one night and cooked fish for all of us. The beach house is awesome with great views, close proximity to town, and darn good internet connections. If you fly in they come to the airport and pick you up plus arrange for security for the plane if you wish. (not that I have ever had a problem, but it's nice to know someone is looking after the plane) If you want to relax and take part in "real" Baja fishing community, this is the place for you. You won't regret it.

OK, I've been traveling/ staying in Baja for close to 40 years. The Beach House and Asuncion is my absolute favorite place to stay. Loreto is great/ San Francisquito is rustic, Cabo is well Cabo - but staying at the Beach House is unreal. It is not a 5 star hotel, but better - your own place, kitchen fridge...everything, bedrooms well appointed. Steps to the beach where I learned to surf fish in about 5 minutes bringing in fish after fish - Shari takes care of everything!!! Fished with her husband Juan and his friends for the best fishing I've ever experienced. The roads have been improved. If you truly want to get away, have a dinner with the chief of police in a small restaurant, no crime at all, and then, peace and quiet , this is the place. Watch the kids in uniform march to schools in the am. If you're in to surfing like I was when I was younger, my gosh, there are so many great places you can go and surf by yourself, or on a crowded day, maybe a few town guys there - but no "local" crap. The town has great restaurants, small stores that have everything you might need - booze, ice, chips..... My only regret is that I can't stay there longer than a week! OK, if you love the Baja, want to experience the real Baja and still want to be pampered this is the place to go!~!! Just contact Shari on her website. Anyone who likes to fish MUST visit this place! We've been back a few times and the first year we caught all the yellowtail/ calicos, then traveled about 10 minutes to catch yellowfin tuna! Good grief - If you have the time go!!!

the best feature here is your wonderful hosts, juan and shari...they take care of you like you've never been taken care of before; the house is open when you arrive...just putz around and get settled and soon enough shari will show up and ask you what you need to be comfy...she'll have it arranged in no time...want lobster?...no problem!!...want abalone?...small problem...but not insurmountable....they are the ultimate hosts and you just sit around on the patio and listen to the hiss of the surf and the gulls raising hell and you are in nirvana.....everyone has to try this once!

One of the great bargains in the entire Baja. On the beach, great walking, swimming, fishing beach. A short walk to downtown Asuncion where there are very good restaurants, market and friendly people.
The owners provide guided fishing, whale watching and other excursions. This is a fishing village so if you love seafood, this is the place, Lobster, fresh fish and Abalone in season. Great biking, hiking, kayaking, beach walks and lounging. Quiet, clean and well maintained. I would stay here again in a heartbeat

My family and I stayed here with my brother's family for a week during Thanksgiving 2010. The accommodations were excellent by Baja standards. Very spacious and as close to the beach as you can get. The patio area was awesome and was the general meeting area as we were traveling with a group of about 20. Plenty of parking and space for whatever you are doing. While there, we fished 3 days with Juan and did very well on the yellowtail and bonito. The surf fishing was excellent for corbina. My wife and two of my daughters don't really fish, so I booked and eco tour with Shari and they got to see the area from the panga and go snorkeling with the sea lions. They loved that!!! The beaches are great and if you drive south from town, there are even more places to explore, fish and beachcomb. I should also mention that this is a great place for kayaks. Everyone and I mean everyone we met while there were amazing. Loved the town and was comfortable letting my teenage girls wander around on there own. Asuncion reminded me of old baja... no major resorts... just friendly people who enjoy what the country has to offer. I will be back and stay with Shari again and fish with Juan. A couple of pointers... fill up in Vizciano so you have as much gas as possible to go exploring. Also, establish early contact with Shari and do a little shopping for her and Surfdoc beofre you go. It will be greatly appreciated as there are items they can use that are not always easy to get. Bahai Asuncion is a must see place on your Baja list!!!!
