Shari Bondy has lived in Central Baja for over 20 years, and in Bahía Asuncion for 10 years. She and her husband, Juan both love Baja and play a very active role in their local community. Shari is involved in the gray whale research in Bahia, in addition to being a tour guide, English teacher, sailor and a tourism operator. Juan Arce Marron, Shari’s husband, is a fisherman and a sport fishing guide from Bahía Asuncion.Juan and Shari own a small hotel in front of the blowhole just in front of the Bahía Asuncion blowhole. They operate a sports fishing and dive charter business and offer snorkeling with the sealions at Asunion Island. Juan and Shari also manage vacation rentals, and they are also involved with local real estate and construction services.Both Shari and Juan speak fluent Spanish and English – they offer Spanish immersion classes to teach visitors and new residents to the area Spanish, and Shari is also an English teacher. They think it’s important to help new residents assimilate to the area.
